Does stress make you burn calories?

So when you get stressed, your heart rate goes up, which means that your heart is moving faster. Does this mean that you are burning calories when you are stressed? If so, then hypothetically speaking (and putting aside all the mental and ethical issues that are going to come from this), if we put a person in a stressful event for around 10 mins and let them rest for a day and do it again, would they gain heart muscle or lose calories like a regular person working out and resting?
