a weird and painful coincidence

Feedback Request

Hi everyone. I’m not sure which category to put this post in, but I need an opinion because I find myself in a very strange situation. I’ve been working on an indie game as a hobby for a few years now, and despite the slow progress, I have to say it’s going well. Since it’s a hobby, I’m in no rush; I’d like to do a great job, regardless of how long it takes.

Unfortunately, however, I am the victim of a truly strange coincidence. My game is extremely similar to "Deltarune", the spiritual successor to Undertale created by Toby Fox. By "similar," I don't mean in terms of gameplay, but rather regarding the general restructuring, the themes explored, and in some respects the imagery and the breaking of the fourth wall. Obviously, Deltarune is far superior to what I’m creating naturally; Toby Fox is a genius, and I’m just an amateur.

Deltarune is being released very slowly, chapter by chapter, so I can't prove it's a coincidence; but what bothers me most is the risk of creating something similar to an existing work while having fewer resources and less talent. What would you do? Would you try to change course? Would you ignore it? I’d really hate to be accused of being a copycat I’ve put a lot of effort into this, and this coincidence is really bringing me down.
