Gradually unable to speak properly out of the blue
I, 22M, gradually gained a trait where I trip over my words. At first, it was very unnoticeable and something I could brush off but in the past few months, I found myself being unable to say words properly. To preface, I don’t take any medicine that may alter myself or do habits that go inline with the likes of smoking, drinking, etc. I live a clean life so those are out of the question.
Physically, I don’t feel any pain in my body yet when i speak words, I slur them or I end up saying something else entirely and it happens more frequently in English. Coming from a non-english speaking country, I thought the western accent I put up was slowly deteriorating but this also happens in my native language too. In my head I know the words and how to pronounce it but if I vocalize, it’s like the words I say are merged together or the sounds I make for each syllable are so different from what it’s supposed to be.
The only time this sudden trait disappears is when I sing. When I say things in songs, I don’t experience the discomfort of my tongue feeling like its tied together or the words being said in a completely different way or my accent being way off. Its completely non-existent when I do it in that manner. Writing is also a non-issue and the feeling of stuttering isn’t present at all. In normal conversations , however, this thing happens in almost every sentence. It’s bugging me since I’m aware that it’s not supposed to be said like that but it still happens even if I slow down my speech. For example, the word ”since” would be “seence” or when I read things out loud, I find myself pausing mid-sentence to catch myself from stuttering.
Is this a cause of concern? Should I just observe and see if it changes or should I head straight to the hospital?
