I need an impartial opinion
im really struggling to excuse this friendship. I have integrative complexity, as in with a conflict, I can see both sides so clearly. the problem with this friendship is it feels heavily one-sided. I've written thousands of journal entries about it, yet nothing ever changes in my head. I still dont know if im imagining this. we're both going through a bad time in our life, she has agoraphobia and im struggling with severe burn out from this friendship and other things in my life.
I have been an emotional blanket for her since the start of her agoraphobia so instead of looking after myself, I sacrificed myself a lot for her which isn't her fault. she often admits she knows she isn't there for me enough, she also admits she doesn't listen to what I say (a lot), she's constantly fact checking what I say and if I know something more then her, it turns into some competition. when conversations are about me, she either takes over the conversation completely and makes it about her or one ups my achievements. she also would downplay my burnout, saying hers was louder. I dont think she meant it mean intentionally, but still. and I can't for the life of me understand if im dramaticising it or not.
she often tries to relate to me by saying she has no friends, I think she has a victim complex, but in fact she does. she has people who visit her in real life, make an effort to talk to her, I have no one. It just pisses me off when people act like they know something when they dont. like my issues are always made into hers.
at the start of the friendship, I had no resentment towards her, it was fine for months. I eventually suffered severe burn out and with the blink of an eye, she pulled away. never said why until months later but excused it with "I needed space", which is fine, but she was well able to FaceTime and talk to her other friends which made my eyebrow arch. that's when the resentment began, ever since then theres been patterns of behaviors I cant ignore. I often tell myself im imagining shit so I started to write it down. and they are small on their own, but together they form a bigger problem.
when she first pulled away, she wouldn't answer my texts for 2 weeks, shed often leave them on read. which again, is fine. but she was able to post stories of her online friends convos constantly.
I really can't tell if im being dramatic. this has been a conflict in my head for months. I have no friends right now as ever since I got unwell and couldn't be people therapist friends they ditched me, so it feels like a massive sacrifice. I try to try harder or do things differently but it just doesn't work. I really do wanna believe im imagining this and not that in actuality ive been a big pushover loser who being used and abused for nothing. the worst thing was her leaving me all alone after I finally showed my emotions and got vulnerable. can someone be brutally honest and tell me if im being dramatic and a bad friend or is this really what I think it is.
