I’m half-way through 20th Century Boys and hating it. What else would you recommend?

Hey guys, I want to read a story that is psychological, is creative, has that kind of mystery, not childish and has stunning character development.
I also don’t want it to feel like an engineered plot, which is one of the MANY things I don’t like about 20thCB.
