Is this asking for too much information?

Communication

My ex and I are newly separated and currently birdnesting in the family home.

Tonight I got a message from him asking if I would be fit to drive home in case he needs to go to accident and emergency. He declined telling me what is wrong all he was willing to share was that it wasn't life threatening.

It took an hour (while he was still doing bedtime with our toddlers) for him to get back to me that he spoke to the a&e and that they want to see him.

During the handover he still didn't want to tell me what's wrong and got angry that I was pushing it.

I feel like its fair for me to know a general ball park of what is wrong and why he needs to go in (injury, illness, etc)

While our kids were really young he had an undiagnosed medical issue which included several hospital trips in the middle of the night with the kids in tow as I had to drive. That was luckily solved and treated, but did leave some residual anxiety on my side.

I also still care about him and am freaked out about a late evening hospital visit. And of course I will always come back to be with our kids if he needs to go to the hospital.

Am I asking too much or am I out of line in wanting more information? Is it normal to not share anything about this while still relying on the coparent? I genuinely don't understand so looking for an outside perspective.
