[Tutorial] Getting Started With DogeCoin
So you've heard about DogeCoin and have no idea how to get started using it. This post will be a simple yet comprehensive guide on getting started using DogeCoin using and the Windows version of the DogeCoin wallet.
To begin your adventure in Doge, simply visit the DogeCoin homepage.
After navigating to that page, click on the Windows version of the wallet in order to download your client.
The client comes in a .zip file able to be opened with newer versions of the Windows Explorer or with unzipping software like 7-Zip.
Unzip dogecoin-qt-v14-Win.zip. There will be a lot of files with confusing names that you're just going to have to ignore. They help the wallet work and you need every single one of these. Create a new directory somewhere safe and extract all these files into the new folder.
Open up the dogecoin-qt.exe. This will be your virtual wallet where you'll keep your DogeCoins.
Once your wallet has been opened up, it creates a folder with the following path on new versions of Windows:
C:\Users\YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME\AppData\Roaming\DogeCoin
Drag and drop the file titled "dogecoin.conf" from the directory your DogeCoin wallet is stored in this new folder.
Close and reopen your client.
If everything has gone correctly, your DogeCoin Wallet will start synchronizing with the network and will take a long time.
Congratulations! You can now store addresses in the "Very Address" tab in order to pay people using the "Pls Send" tab. To get your own DogeCoin Address, simply navigate to "Much Receive" and create a new address. When you distribute this address to the server, you can receive DogeCoins when you cash out your in game balance.
You can also mine DogeCoins using other software that utilizes your GPU in order to donate to the server address located on the side bar of r/dogecrafters. To donate simply inform one of the many moderators or the admins and "Pls Send" your desired amount to the server.
Happy mining!
