Is a top liner lock the best compromise between a liner lock and a button lock?

I like the crisp detent and predictable deployment of a good liner lock, but I prefer locks that let me keep my fingers out of the blade path when closing.

Button locks are convenient, although some of them feel a little soft or vague on deployment. A button-actuated top liner lock seems like it should combine the best parts of both.

For anyone who has carried one for a while, does that hold up in practice? Which models have the best balance of detent, lockup, and controlled closing?
