Can ChatGPT help me learn Playwright automation?

I’m starting with Playwright and wondering how useful ChatGPT actually is for learning rather than just generating code.

It seems helpful for explaining TypeScript syntax, breaking down locators, and debugging basic errors. My concern is becoming dependent on generated scripts without understanding why they work. I’ve already noticed that AI sometimes suggests outdated syntax, brittle CSS selectors, or unnecessary waits that would cause maintenance problems later.

Would a sensible approach be to follow the official Playwright documentation, build a small project, and use ChatGPT only when I’m stuck? For example, asking it to explain trace files, compare locator strategies, or review a test I wrote myself instead of asking it to create the whole framework.

I’ve seen structured training mentioned, including H2K Infosys, TestLeaf, and LetCode, but I’m more interested in whether AI plus hands-on practice is enough to develop solid automation fundamentals.
