What Does an Integration SPOC Really Do in an SAP S/4HANA Rollout?

Today I officially became the Integration SPOC for an SAP S/4HANA rollout replacing SAP Business One in India.

I quickly realized that this role isn't about interfaces—it's about orchestration.

The priorities are simple:

  • Assess the impact on all Core and Non-Core integrations.
  • Define the target integration strategy (API, Events, IDoc, Batch...).
  • Align business, application and integration teams.
  • Clarify ownership, dependencies and risks.
  • Ensure end-to-end testing and cutover readiness.
  • Maintain governance and architecture consistency throughout the rollout.

The real challenge isn't building integrations.

It's making sure every stakeholder shares the same understanding of what changes, who owns it, what could break, and how success will be measured.

For those who have led global SAP rollouts, what was the biggest lesson you learned as an Integration SPOC?
