Struggling to accept this
So, I’ve been in a relationship with my boyfriend for 2 years now. We met at work, fell for each other instantly and have been inseparable since. He recently went away with friends and was enjoying his time there. At 2am on his last night there, he had gone to a pub to watch a football game. His friends eventually left to go to another location but after walking them out, he stayed to continue watching.
His drink was spiked and he doesn’t remember anything, only a few moments here and there. He says a girl took him out the pub, and she forced herself onto him. He was completely out of it and doesn’t remember anything. While all this was going on his phone was off, I messaged his friend asking if he had heard from him. My boyfriend then rang a few minutes later, and he sounded distraught and didn’t tell me what happened until the next day.
I feel so upset. I am supporting him in any way I can. When he landed, I started crying as soon as I laid eyes on him. I’m so horrified at how someone could just do this, he is not wanting to talk about it too much and I am respecting that as best as I can but I am really struggling with this. We have not had intercourse since this has happened. He has said he’s okay with having sex with me and that he’s not put off, but that’s purely because he can’t remember anything.I’m scared that if if we do do anything he will start to remember it and the last thing I want is for him to feel uncomfortable.
I can’t fathom that something like this has happened to him, it genuinely upsets me and my fear is that he’s quietly struggling with this. Can anyone please just give advice on how I can help him through this whilst also trying doing the same for myself? He will refuse to talk to anyone about it, so that will be no good (I’ve tried he is too stubborn). I just want everything to be okay again.
The love I have for him has not changed at all. This is just hurting me so much because seeing the person you love go through something like this is heartbreaking. Hearing him tell me that has changed my perspective on so many things. I’m just struggling to be okay with this. I haven’t eaten or slept properly, I cry everywhere I go. At work, in the car, at home. I just can’t keep feeling like this, my priority should be him and it is but this is just weighing me down.
