Possible September Tour to Thailand

Me and my friends are going to Thailand at the end of September for a week. I need some suggestions. What are the things you wish you knew before coming to Thailand? What are the budget saving tips? How to have unique experiences, in terms of both sightseeing and nightlife? Is socialization possible in Thailand?
