Feeling unsure about future as a new grad in Software Engineering
I recently graduated 2 months ago in May in Software Engineering. I used to think that once I got my degree, then things would be easier. 2 months later, nothing has changed and I'm still at the same place I found myself before I started starting Software Engineering.
I've been applying everywhere I could to get somewhere, whether it would be internships, graduate programmes, jobs for Junior Software Engineers, I did everything I could to get somewhere. For the jobs I applied to, I fitted around at least 70% of the job requirements for the job position. I was applying for years and years even before I graduated, nothing changed.
Now that I graduated with my degree in Software Engineering and started applying again, nothing changed.
It's a constant spiral of "We have decided not to move forward with your application" but never "You have the job". I know that ATS applications are risky and that I'm competing against hundreds of applicants but it never get old to be honest. Networking has helped a bit, but it's quite expensive because I live far away from the main city. I met a lot of people through networking but it hasn't fostered anything remotely helpful for getting my foot in the industry.
I get it, it's tough, but I feel like throwing in the towel might be the best option.
