[Event] Pirates and Dragons, 6th moon 300AC - Somewhere at sea

Event

Malora had found a suitable ship and crew in the harbor of Oldtown—reliable spice smugglers—and instructed them to be up and ready in Three Towers at the time of her arrival there. Exactly the type Gunthor would enjoy: simple-minded men, interested in nothing but ships, coin, and other corporeal pleasures. The ship was called "The Lapis Siren"—like so many other ships—and was of respectable making, not too old, also nothing fancy. She had taken up the captain's quarters in exchange for a few extra coins, which the man was happy to take. She could have him sleeping on the floorboards for a mere pittance extra. Her own guardsmen patrolled inside and out, dressed as common sailors.

She was pleasantly surprised her youngest brother Gunthor had been successful in securing useful allies for the trip. Not only were they bound to her own house in some way, one also shared the blood of those she intended to find. Not so dim-witted, her brother was, after all.

Malora's handmaiden and spy in King's Landing, Mirabelle, had done a stellar job also, finding the Golden Serpents—exactly the kind of sellsails she'd need for the momentous tasks that lay before her. After her failure at the Red Keep, she would have to be quick, as the Crown would certainly retaliate against their perceived enemies.

The Siren's quartermaster had brought in Gunthor as instructed. "Sister," he said upon entering.

"Brother." She answered. "By now you must have figured out what we've set out to do."

"I've had my suspicions from the start, yes, but I am still not entirely certain. If we are doing what I think we are... would you let me sail east after we find them?" Unafraid of what would happen but with eyes on the horizon, Gunthor was already dreaming of the adventure after the current one.

"Baelor would be unhappy, but I'll allow it." She squinted her eyes. "How did you know?" Nothing she'd done would point at her besides the little Green Dragon she had drawn on the note to Aegon, and that note was a little pile of ash and dust.

"You tend to stay home, then you left. A year later, the carpenters, riggers, first mates of every ship in the harbor start talking of Dragons on the Iron Throne. You can't fool me—that was Baelor." Years among the smugglers and sailors of Oldtown had made Gunthor more like Malora than she would have guessed. She had mistaken him for a lackey where he could have been an ally. Slowly she rose from her chair and walked up to the enormous man and put a hand at his cheek. "Color me impressed. Sail as far east as you would like. I'll spin a story for our lord brother. But please, come home at some time." This was the most appreciation or love she had ever shown her youngest brother in all his twenty-and-seven years. "Apparently, Volantis is beautiful this time of year."

With the same "Sister," Gunthor left the captain's quarters. High treason was not something he would commit every day, but to him, it felt like adventure like no other before. If they could pull off this heist, it would be a legendary tale for years to come. His eyes glistened in the moonlight as he made his way to the quarterdeck.
