Quicksilver by Callie Hart made me lose confidence in this sub

CopyPasta

After people recommending over a thousand times, I DNF Quicksilver at 38% and I honestly don’t know how I made it that far. I typically don’t write reviews on here but this book was simultaneously boring and infuriating and I just had to state my piece.

I cannot believe this is the book people have been gushing over. I for one, LOVE shitty booktok books, they’re my guilty pleasure, add in a billionaire as they all do? And I’m sold. Except for this nothing burger book.

I’m sorry to the author and those who love it, i know I sound harsh but it took me 3 days to get to 38% that’s how horrible I found it.

Kingfisher was insufferable and boring, nothing about him excited me and I hated that she agreed to that whole rubbish, he was extremely obnoxious and degrading. Everlayne pissed me off because he is an objectively bad person but they want her to forget how he treated her just because they claim that he’s nice and had family issues? Don’t we all.

I don’t even know anything about Saeris (it took me a second to even recall her name just now). I was pissed from the moment her queen ganged up on her and decided that she would be the one to go in the portal that wasn’t her idea and might jeopardise her future. I’m not going to lie, she was dumb because she chose to put her life on the line, steal extremely expensive things (she made it sound like it was special but how would she even have gotten her hands on that, and so quickly), then take the brunt of the damage cost by subjecting herself to that loser.

I love an enemies-to-lovers but not when the other person is just a shitty person making life harder for everyone around them. I’m not even going to talk about her turning down that outrageous amount of money just to do all this for nothing because of “her brother”.

I had to stop reading when she suddenly started feeling tingly around him because he woke up one day and decided to give her five seconds of attention. That whole part just didn’t make sense, they both did a completely unrealistic 180. I honestly should have stopped reading when she agreed to move into his house but I told myself it would get better—spoiler alert—it didn’t.
