Is USA, specifically Seattle, safe to visit?

Question — General

I'm asking because I'm aware that social media and news can really skew the perspective to a more negative one.

I'm a European woman, I have the opportunity to attend a work related event in Seattle this September. I've travelled a lot in Europe, mainly as a kid, lately some more and generally I've always felt safe, even alone.

My main concern is that in recent years, the atmosphere around the USA has become a really negative one. Gun safety was always a big concern of mine. I'm concerned if it will not be a bigger problem especially with worsening polarization of different groups of people. My event is a gaming one, not political or anything like that. I'm also aware that this problem may be overblown in my head due to my own anxieties, so I would like to know some information from people living or people who traveled there.

The health aspect is also not really encouraging... With the recent diarrhea parasite outbreak I'm concerned about food safety and other health aspects.

I also stress about people on the streets that can be under some drugs influence. I've never had experience with such people, generally I've never had any negative experiences with strangers, sure some homeless people can be weird and intimidating, but drugged out people or fentanyl zombies seems to be a bigger problem over there...

I don't want to seem offensive or anything. Browsing the internet that's how the USA is presented to me, I'm aware that I may be negatively biased and that's why I'm trying to research all of this before I need to make a decision. I wouldn't like anxiety to rule my life and potentially miss on an amazing opportunity, but I would like to know what are the risks realistically so I can make informed decision.

Thanks!
