Advice/Support: Mom (47) diagnosed with high-grade endometrial cancer (G3/Stage IIC) - looking for shared experiences.
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some support and perspective regarding my mom’s recent diagnosis. We are currently navigating the post-surgery phase and could use some insight from anyone who has gone through something similar.
The Background:
My mom is 47 years old. She recently underwent a robot-assisted total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy on June 26, 2026. The pathology report came back as high-grade endometrioid carcinoma (G3 FIGO), Stage IIC.
It’s been an emotional rollercoaster, but there are some factors that we are holding onto as "positives":
The two sentinel lymph nodes tested were negative for cancer.
There was no vascular invasion noted.
Her hormone receptor status is high (80% ER positive, 60% PR positive) [context provided by user].
Where we are now:
She is about two and a half weeks post-surgery. She has a radiation treatment plan coming up to serve as a "safety net" for the pelvic area.
My questions:
- Surveillance/Anxiety: For those of you who were diagnosed with G3/Stage IIC, how do you handle the anxiety regarding recurrence? We are trying to stay positive, but it's hard.
- Recovery/Back Pain: She has been experiencing some back pain recently. We are going to call her oncology team to report it, but I’m curious if others dealt with lingering back pain while recovering from a hysterectomy? Is this usually just part of the healing process?
- Hormone-Positive Maintenance: Has anyone with hormone-positive (ER+/PR+) endometrial cancer been offered maintenance hormonal therapy after radiation?
We are working closely with her medical team, but I'm just looking for personal stories or advice on what helped you get through this phase. Thank you for reading.
