Where do your best business ideas actually come from?

Question for other founders:

Do you actively monitor trends, planning applications, government announcements and local developments, or is it mostly industry experience and luck?

I’ve been experimenting with building a system that tries to identify commercial opportunities from weak signals in public data, and it’s made me realise how many potential businesses are hiding in plain sight.
