Synapse 4 forces Windows Dynamic Refresh Rate back to 60 Hz (2026 Blade 16)
I think I found a Synapse bug with Windows Dynamic Refresh Rate.
If I manually toggle Windows Dynamic Refresh Rate (48–240 Hz), I can observe, in real time, Synapse immediately changes its own refresh rate indicator from 240 Hz to 60 Hz. However, at this point, it doesn’t change the actual refresh rate. It’s only forced by Synapse incorrectly during Synapse startup once I reboot the laptop or restart Synapse.
I confirmed it’s Synapse by doing a Clean Boot:
- Disable Synapse startup and reboot.
- Windows stays on Dynamic (48–240 Hz) indefinitely.
- Launch Synapse manually.
- Synapse shows the 60 Hz option is selected.
- Windows immediately changes from Dynamic → 60 Hz.
240 Hz DRR is still available in Windows, and I can switch it back manually. It looks like Synapse doesn’t understand Windows Dynamic Refresh Rate and ends up overwriting it with a fixed 60 Hz setting.
