Hello!

I just wanted to put this out there - both as a cautionary tale, if you ever decide to purchase from this seller, and as a way for me to vent a little, since there's so much I can do about this situation. I also hope it's not against any sub rules, because I see eBay sellers getting called out often.

So, a little over a month ago I hop on a single card show stream (not a break, so no luck involved, besides staying the highest bidder, maybe), hosted by the aforementioned ldcollectorcards. I see a Christopher Nkunku card numbered to /10, so I bid EUR 7 and get it - a good price, right? Not the most sought after player by any means, but still a bit of a bargain for such a low-numbered card.

I decide to stick around and see what else they have to offer, and lo and behold - a Charlize Theron Redemption Auto card comes out (numbered to /50). The price stays low, just one or two bidders, so I put in like EUR 4 or 5, somebody puts in 6, I go up to 7... and manage to get it. Obviously my first thought is that this card should be way more valuable than that - I jump on eBay and see recent sales between EUR 250 - 400. Wow! I guess nobody else in the stream really paid attention, or they weren't familiar with the value, since it was a soccer card show.

And then my second thought is - maybe it was already scratched off and I didn't see or hear? So I ask him in the chat and he shows it again - nope, everything looks good. I immediately purchase a shipping upgrade, so I can track it and to avoid it getting lost in the local post office. It arrives a couple of days later, I go pick it up, open it, a-a-and... there's nothing inside, apart from an empty top loader.

I immediately put in for a refund with WhatNot & kudos to them - they approve it straight away, I just had to message them, so I can get the shipping upgrade back as well. Then I contact the seller, send him a photo of the top loader and ask him if maybe they forgot to ship the cards - at 1st I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe the local carrier messed with it, even though I didn't see any noticable tears on the package, before I opened it.

And then the stalling begins - "I'm contacting my employee, I'm waiting on an answer from management, we have videos of the way we packaged it - I'll send it to your e-mail, another package for you was returned to us, I'm going to send it back for free", I'll just upload screenshots of our conversation, so you can see the whole thing. Taking multiple days to reply, promising to send footage they never did and finally asking me to contact them on WhatsApp, where apparently they're more active. I said there's no need - just let me know if you shipped it back, or send me a tracking number, but they insisted they'll update me on WhatsApp the same evening... well, that same evening they spent at least 4 hours streaming soccer breaks, but I never got a message back.

It's frustrating, because even though the WhatNot team were great and I got a full refund, I still didn't get the cards I fairly bid for. Still, I can't be 100% certain what happened here, but I do think it's pretty obvious what the most likely explanation is. It's also extremely dissapointing for a seller with a 4.9 out of 5 star rating to basically give you the runaround, false promises and then stop messaging altogether. Looking at his reviews they're mostly great, but every now and then you read the same thing - "I didn't get the cards I paid for", or "the package was incomplete, the seller offered help at first, but in the end didn't do anything".

I'll upload screenshots of the video receipts (as the sub doesn't allow video attachments), as well as our text conversation, so you can see for yourself. I've also put in a report for WhatNot to review, but let's face it - this is someone with over 30,000 sold items and a nearly perfect rating, so every now and then they can get away with something like this. The stream is in German, but you can hear him say "Apple, GG" (part of my username) right after I get the Charlize Theron card. Mind you, there's also multiple people working there, so the guy from the stream is not the same one that asked me to message him on WhatsApp. I'll also upload a screenshot of the serial number of the redemption card, so if by any chance somebody stumbles upon a card with the serial of 027681724 on eBay or another platform... well, you know what this card's story is. You can also see the same top loader, marked with the card number on stream arrived in the empty package.

And lastly - I see a majority of customers satisfied with this seller, but my experience here was... well, underwhelming, to put it lightly. I can't even put a review and an explanation on WhatNot, since my order was refunded. So if you do decide to buy from them and end up getting a deal - just be on the lookout not to miss WhatNot's refund policy deadlines. And if a package does come through with my cards, as unlikely as that may seem - I'll apologize and update straight away.

My experience with ldcollectorcards on WhatNot.
