A tale of two stories within a short time - failure and success
I hope everyone is having a great time.
Just want to share my story of my approximately 2 month on Bumble.
At the age of 41 I decided to give Bumble a whirl. Never married and no kids. I was a bit apprehensive of signing up to Bumble because of friends who have had bad experiences. Their summary of bumble was 'soul destroying'. I decided to give it a go anyway
Didn't have an issue getting matches in the first instance. My filters were set for the same age and slightly older. Good old swiping on everything without looking (I know it's not the way it should be done)
Lots of messages from older ladies, generally opening up with 'hey handsome' or gobbledegoop; must be a thing on bumble to say that because it was fairly consistent.
Started a conversation with a fairly upfront lady; a criminologist fairly high up in the police here in the UK. Set a date and off we went. Fairly talkative and it was good. I don't do one night stands however she jumped on top of me. I politely de-escalated it.
A few more dates but started noticing a pattern. All she would do is talk about her previous dates, 100s of different men. Always slandering and talking bad about them. After dates she would do a 180 and change mood completely. It was chaos. On the fourth date towards the end she mentioned we weren't right for each other and I gracefully moved on.
Now back on the app I found an amazing woman. Slightly younger but super secure in her emotions. We met and the first date was like a house on fire. The calm and relaxation was amazing to feel. 1 month further on we've both deleted Bumble. Both deleted independently. You know when you can sit in calm and relaxation with someone you know that's the one.
It also taught me one thing. If a woman straight off the bat is super duper upfront, calling you handsome with the first message and she talks bad about all her ex partners then run far away.
In the end, Bumble has been a success for me :)
