Games want serious story + easy harem power fantasy and it just doesn’t work

Real talk, I know this is AVN and escapism sells, but a lot of these games want to have their cake and eat it too, and it’s not really working imo.

They hype up serious drama, mystery, or deep storytelling, then immediately pivot to the usual power fantasy stuff like “average college dude gets a harem of hot girls who fall for him.”

One minute I’m supposed to care about the serious story and the girls, and the next they’re acting like brainless simps who can’t live without the MC’s dick. It makes the serious parts feel fake, the fantasy parts feel dumb, and it creates this really awkward middle ground.

Just pick a lane, man. Either go full power fantasy or actually make the relationships and story make sense. This half assed mix is getting old.
