Budget: €1000

Models I’m considering: HP OMEN 16 Slim or Acer Nitro V 16 AI

Notes:

From what I’ve seen, both laptops seem to have lower-powered GPUs. I believe the Nitro is limited to around 85W and the OMEN to around 90W (please correct me if I’m wrong).

I want to play some modern AAA games, so that’s an important factor for me. I think the Nitro’s 16GB of RAM should be enough, but the fact that it has an RTX 5050 instead of a 5060 makes me hesitate.

As for the OMEN, it’s a slim laptop, and I’ve often heard that thinner gaming laptops usually don’t perform as well because of cooling limitations. I also haven’t been able to find many reviews of it—in fact, I’ve found almost nothing.

I need a laptop that will last me several years because this is a significant investment for me, and I want to make the best choice since both are in the same price range.

One thing to keep in mind is that I’ll be buying it in Spain, but I live in Brazil. If something goes wrong, I probably won’t be able to use the warranty, so reliability is very important to me. (I’m buying it in Spain because laptops are much cheaper there than they are here in Brazil.)

Another thing is that I already have a desktop PC at home, so this laptop won’t be my primary gaming machine. It’ll mainly be for studying and for playing games when I’m away from home, since I stay in student accommodation and sometimes don’t have much to do.

Which one would you choose, and why? If you’ve owned either of them, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.

OMEN 16 Slim (Core Ultra 7 255H + RTX 5060) or Acer Nitro V 16 AI (Ryzen 7 260 + RTX 5050)?
