Relocating to Islamabad/Rawalpindi – Would Appreciate Your Guidance
Assalam-o-Alaikum everyone,
I could use some local wisdom.
My family and I are planning to relocate from Karachi to Islamabad/Rawalpindi in the coming months. I've spent most of my life in areas like Malir Cantt and Bahria Town, so I've gotten used to clean surroundings, a family-oriented atmosphere, and neighborhoods where you can comfortably go for an evening walk without feeling overwhelmed by noise and congestion.
The challenge is that we're not relocating with a huge budget.
We're looking for a clean 2-bedroom apartment or portion in the range of PKR 30,000–35,000/month. Access to basic necessities like supermarkets, pharmacies, and hospitals would also be a big plus.
I'm not looking for luxury or fancy addresses. I'd rather live in a modest area with good people, a decent environment, and a sense of community than in a flashy place that stretches the budget.
For those who have lived in Islamabad/Rawalpindi for years:
Which areas would you genuinely recommend for a family in our situation?
Which areas are overrated and should be avoided?
If you were moving with the same budget today, where would you choose to live?
Would really appreciate honest opinions, personal experiences, and any rental leads.
Thanks in advance. Looking forward to learning from people who know the city better than I do.
