Remote workers who dictate, does talking out loud at your desk feel weird in a shared space?
Disclosure upfront, I make SpeakUp (getspeakup.app), an on-device Mac dictation app, so factor that in, but this is a genuine question I don't have a good answer to myself. A few users have mentioned they only dictate when nobody else is in the room, home office with the door closed, or a call booth at a co-working space, even though the tool works fine anywhere. The actual bottleneck isn't the software, it's feeling strange talking to a computer while a partner or a coworker can hear you. I don't know if that fades with practice or if it's just a permanent tax on dictation as a category compared to typing, which nobody can overhear.
For people who dictate as part of remote work, did that self consciousness go away for you over time, or do you still only do it when you're alone?
