Stargazer
What do you see, Stargazer, when you look up to the sky?
Do you wonder where I am when your bright eyes search the light
Cast down from the stars above, or does my absence dim your sight?
What do you think, Stargazer, when the moon is what you see?
Do you spot the face within and pretend that it is me,
A watchful man, high and large, standing guard while you're asleep?
Am I with you in your dreams?
Does memory, Stargazer, keep me safe within your mind?
Or am I but a lonely ghost, slowly disappearing like
The gases of a nebula, thinning right before your eyes?
What do you wish, Stargazer, when a meteor flies by?
Do you hope for one more chance to spend a night under the sky
With me as I do with you, snuggled close while stars take flight?
That I wish with all my might.
What do you feel, Stargazer, when you gaze into the dark
Space between the sparkling lights? Does pain tear us far apart,
Or do you still hold love for me deep inside your perfect heart?
I hope you know, Stargazer, that when the stars fill your view
I am here, always watching. Be sure I see them like you do.
And when they twinkle me to sleep, you fill my heart in my dreams, too.
Everlasting is my love for you.
