How to cope with the fact that you’ve found the right person, but it won’t work out

I (24F) first met him (24M) while I was on vacation to a different country a year ago. He was the nephew of a family friend of mine, so we already had a few mutuals.

I only stayed in his city for a couple days, before moving on to a new city, but during that brief encounter we became good friends. Even after I went back home after my vacation was over, we have been continuously keeping in touch with each other, calling and facetiming here and there as well.

It started off just as friends, but gradually as we got to know each other more, it started to become more than that. We ended up confessing to each other about a month ago, and have been dating since.

I love him, I really do, but I don’t think the relationship would work out. He lives on the opposite of the world (we have a 15h difference), and we’ve already established our careers, and I would hate to be the one that holds him back.

Another thing to mention is language barrier. I speak both English + his language, but he barely knows any English. He’s also super close with his family, and I don’t think he’d like to move away (as well as restarting his career).

Just a bit frustrated right now, and I know that I’m probably thinking too negatively when our relationship just barely started… but just thinking about what might come in the future is really scaring me. This rant is kinda just me trying to run away and brace myself before either of us gets hurt too deeply.

Any comments and advice is appreciated, and please, if there’s anything I should change/improve on, do let me know, thank you.
