X300 sometimes indefinitely overheating after charging

Normally the phone gets warm while charging and then immediately starts to cool down after unplugging; however, sometimes it gets stuck in a state where it just continues to indefinitely heat up for no reason at all until I reboot. Has anyone else encountered this problem, or is my device defective?
