I came back to Palworld a few weeks ago after last playing in 2024. Fishing has made me consistently smile maybe more than any other part of the game. I don't think it's the BEST part of Palworld, far from it. It could be completely removed from the game and I would still enjoy it as much as I am now. But why does it feel so fun still?

Yes, it probably needs to be nerfed, but even if the rewards were not as good, I still think I would constantly get an itch to go fishing every time I am out exploring or hunting pals.

The mini-game is just engaging enough to keep from getting stale. And the Pals you can catch at different locations are just varied enough to keep surprising me. I'm sure there is a website or mod that tells you exactly what you can catch and where, but these days I try not to engineer or min-max myself through the fun of discovering things and a sense of adventure.

I have played games with better fishing mechanics and more depth before, but somehow they never felt as fun past a few dozen times.

I don't think it's simply because "OOO Glowing Purple and Green Spots 0.0". In fact, now that there is more fast travel points, lookout towers and effigies ALL glowing (And even dungeon entrances glow now too) combined with the longer view distance... I honestly get a little annoyed with everything glowing. Let me explore and find things myself, you don't need to make everything painfully obvious, as if my attention span is too small to find it myself.

I think the fact that you handle the Pals similar to how people handle fish in real life adds that touch of "Palworld Dark Humor" perfectly. Because they were caught with a fishing pole, they get dehumanized.... er de-pal-ized.

And then you holding it brutally for the camera like a trophy with a light-hearted tune playing, and your summoned pal cheering for you... It's SO well done.

I hope they add more depth to fishing! I am here for it!!

Shocked that fishing is still so much fun
