Sellers hanging around during showings usually backfires

A homeowner tries to be “helpful” during a showing, and the home buyer ends up using that info against them later. Not in a shady way — just in a “hey, you basically told me you’re desperate to move and the roof needs work” kind of way.

Most sellers don’t realize how much they reveal through casual conversation. Even body language can give away motivation.

Plus, home buyers act totally different when the seller is standing right there. They won’t open closets, won’t talk openly, won’t point out issues. They just want to get out fast.

So yeah, the best move is for the seller to NOT be home during showings. It’s not about being secretive — it’s about not accidentally sabotaging your own negotiation.
