laptop reimbursement

hello, just got hired from this company and i was told to buy a laptop and pay it upfront. Then i rereimburse po nila sa first paycheck ko. Normal lang po ba ito? I have my ipad m3 po but they asked me to get laptop since medyo heavy work po ang gagawin ko editing and such. Thank you po
