Amazon cancelled my order, but I'm still paying EMI charges. Is this fair?
I recently ordered a mobile phone from Amazon using the EMI option.
Unfortunately, Amazon cancelled the order due to a technical issue on their side, so the product was never delivered.
However, my bank had already processed the EMI. Because of this, I was charged:
- EMI processing fee
- First month's EMI
- Interest charges
When I contacted my bank, they told me that Amazon had initiated a short payment, which caused the EMI to be processed.
I then contacted Amazon, and they said the ₹99 short payment was an "Offer Handling Fee" and that it is non-refundable according to their policy.
I find this completely unfair. The order was cancelled because of Amazon's own technical issue, yet I'm the one who has to bear the processing fee and interest. As a customer, I received no product, but I'm still paying charges because of Amazon's cancellation.
Has anyone faced a similar issue? Were you able to get a refund for the EMI processing fee, interest, or the ₹99 offer handling fee? I'm also considering filing a complaint with the National Consumer Helpline or the Consumer Commission if Amazon refuses to resolve this.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. can any one help?
