# Questions I Keep Getting | Is One Coaching Session Actually Enough?
One of the most common questions I receive from players considering coaching is whether a single session can genuinely make a difference.
The honest answer is that one session will not rebuild your entire game. It will not fix every mechanical weakness, remove every bad habit or guarantee that your rank immediately begins moving in the direction you want.
That is not what a useful first session should attempt to do.
The value of one focused session is that it can prevent you from spending the next hundred games working on the wrong problem.
Most Players Are Practising Without a Diagnosis
Players usually reach coaching with several possible explanations for why they are stuck. They believe their mechanics may be inconsistent, their champion pool may be wrong, their macro may be weak or their teammates may be making games unnecessarily difficult.
Because they do not know which explanation matters most, they begin changing several things at once. They switch champions, watch more guides, play more games and attempt to focus on every visible mistake inside the same match.
The effort is real, but the direction is unclear.
A focused coaching session should reduce that uncertainty. The objective is not to criticise every imperfect decision inside one replay; it is to identify the recurring pattern capable of explaining several of those decisions at once.
If you have reached the point where you are playing consistently but no longer understand what should receive your attention first, you can review the paid coaching formats inside The Academy Discord. When reaching out, include your OP.GG, role, current rank, previous peak and objective so that the session can be structured around the problem you are actually trying to solve.
One Clear Priority Can Change the Entire Review Process
A player may believe they have separate problems with recalls, rotations and objective timing. After examining the games, the underlying issue may be that they never plan beyond the wave currently in front of them.
Another player may believe they need better jungle pathing, stronger ganks and improved objective control. The real limitation may be that their routes are disconnected from the state of the lanes, causing them to arrive after every useful window has already closed.
In both cases, the visible mistakes are real, but treating them as separate problems creates unnecessary complexity.
Once the central pattern is identified, the player can review future games with a much clearer question. Instead of opening every replay and asking what went wrong everywhere, they can examine whether the same decision appeared again, what information they ignored and whether the new correction changed the outcome.
That is where a single session can become valuable beyond the hour itself.
What One Session Can Realistically Provide
A strong first session should give you a clear diagnosis of the main pattern affecting your current results, an explanation of why that pattern keeps appearing and a practical assignment that can be tested in your next games.
It should also tell you whether the problem is narrow enough to address through one focused adjustment or whether it belongs inside a longer coaching process.
Not every player needs the same structure. Some players need a Comprehensive Assessment because they no longer know which part of their game deserves priority. Others already understand the general problem and need a Gameplay Lab, Macro Mastery session or role-specific breakdown to correct the execution.
The purpose of the first conversation is to establish the correct paid format. The personalised analysis begins inside the booked session.

The Better Question
The question is not whether one session can fix everything.
It cannot.
The better question is whether one session can identify the problem currently wasting the largest amount of your time.
If you have already played hundreds of games, consumed more information and repeatedly arrived at the same rank, another month of undirected practice may cost considerably more than one properly structured session.
You do not need every weakness solved at once.
You need to stop guessing which weakness matters first.
