Survived skipping jury duty.
So a couple of months ago I skipped my jury duty at the advice of a friend that skipped his. Nobody came to busting down my door to arrest me, I got my driver's licence renewed with no problems, I go no further notifications from the court. So it looks like the fears of the jury duty hammer is one big bluff. And then 9 out of 10 postings I read here in a weekly basis are from people al saying the same thing. Jury duty? I don't want to do this shit. Don't have the time. I can't afford it. It's too much of a disruption. My strong advice to anyone that doesn't or can't afford to do this shit is to not contact the court and throw the summons away. Problem solved. I get the whole civic duty thing. But civic duty doesn't get the bills paid. I also like how people with medical conditions have to explain their issues to the court when clearly none of that is any if the courts fucking business. Looks like doctor, patient confidentiality goes out the window where jury duty is concerned. This argument about not having jury duty being all voluntary holds about as much water as a collander. There are millions of conscientious impartial people who could serve on juries without any issues. The people who are in support of the system as it is now are the parasites that earn their living off if it. The judges and the fucking lawyers. But ordinary people actually take a pay cut in order to serve on a jury. Bottom line, nobody wants to do this shit. How many times do I have to say it? And yeah. I do comment on this subject a lot because I find it to be fascinating. Because I read more postings against jury duty than for it.
