I'm in my 30s trying to reinvent myself but how do I get out of analysis paralysis?
I think the entirety of my 20s has been to get a safe, high-paying job in tech and enjoy the perks, but as we know it comes with the drawback of a toxic work environment. I felt miserable because I would get things done, even out of my league, but not be given credit or acknowledgement to open doors for new opportunities. It was always scanegers exploiting for their benefit. I got tired and decided that I should join my family business which was my Plan B. Knowing my strengths I knew I could actually bring about changes. But my family is just not decisive, they take forever to come to conclusions and it feels like talking to a rock. They admire the ideas but are very risk averse, and glorify struggles, considering it to be their safe bet. Also, having an open conversation is futile since there clearly seems to be a generational gap. They want to help but have no plan neither want to stick to it and are over protective. So I wakeup everyday not even knowing what I want to do today and mostly its them asking me to do simple tasks like dial a number and call this person. It boils my blood to see all my years of experience wasted to do something so mundane when we could work on improvising existing structures that are not good. For people thinking oh take charge, but powerplay matters. People at work wont implement it until the founder says so. Also, they arent inviting to change in authority. So I just feel stuck and cant do much until they reach a stage of realization and wont take actions, which they dont want to(Im convinced at this point). It makes me worry if I take some irrational decision, I would lose whats in my hands because beggars cant be chooser. Or should I start with something different with my partner, he again is a nice trustworthy person who can execute stuff well. But I dont think he understands me or looks at the bigger picture and can foresee whats to come. This creates frisction between us. Then again he is not good at dealing with problems because he just gets defensive, this makes me seriuously question if I should start a new business with him. For me on my own to start something new, I dont even know where to begin, then again lets be honest everything needs good contacts which I don't have at the moment, and dont know where to begin.
