Am i making the right choice?

Basically i have 2 options for collage, 1st is IIT Kanpur Earth Science and the 2nd is COEP Computer Science, i am choosing IIT after a lot of talk with my parents and online research, i kinda had intreast in CS but everyone i ask is reccomending me IIT Kanpur only, also i have heard that in IITs even if i want to have a tech career, most of the lower branch people do get tech placements by learning themselves, also i have heard that IIT Kanpur has branch change but i am not considering it as i know its very very hard, am i doing the right thing choosing IIT?
