UK car hire eligibility question
Hi everyone!
I'm a UK resident who's planning on hiring a car to drive down to Cornwall in August. I've driven hire cars before, but only ones that have been booked through work.
However, in March 2024, I was in a serious car accident. The car was written off and it was deemed a no fault accident as I'd swerved to avoid hitting a deer and lost control of the car. I've not driven since, bar a few practice runs in my mate's car. This has been largely due to the financial impact of buying another car than any sort of new fear, trauma, etc.
I've managed to book successfully with a car hire company online and they've emailed me a confirmation that my order's been successful. However, I can't seem to stop worrying that they'll reject me on the day due to dangerous driving concerns or something. So, my questions are thus:
-
Is this incident something a car hire company would be able to find, eg. insurance claim data/local police reports, and is it something they could reject you on?
-
If so, is there a chance that they'll reject me on the day, or are they more likely to contact me beforehand?
I've not found anything online, either on the company's site or on the wider internet, but I'd rather not ask the company directly in case it's not a concern until I mention it, you know?
Thanks in advance :)
