The Dagger of the Nailed Gaze is meant to be useful both outside and inside combat.

You can leave it embedded in a wall, door, or object and use it almost like a small spycam, seeing from its position while staying somewhere safer. In combat, the same idea becomes more risky: you can throw it into a creature, watch through its eyes for a moment, and then call the dagger back when the chance comes.

I know it is a very powerful relic, but most of that power is not flat damage. Its real strength comes from information, positioning, timing, and creative use. That is the part I like most, because it can create strange plans and unexpected moments at the table.

**Dagger of the Nailed Gaze**
*Weapon (dagger), legendary (requires attunement)*

**Magic Weapon +2**. You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

**Pinned Eye**. When this dagger becomes embedded in an object that isn’t being worn or carried, you can use an action to see through the eye carved into the blade. For the duration, you are blind with regard to your own senses and see as if you occupied the dagger’s space. The effect ends if you use an action to end it, if the dagger is removed, or if you are more than 120 feet from it.

**Stolen Gaze**. When you hit a creature with a ranged attack using this dagger, you can choose for the dagger to remain embedded in the target. While the dagger remains embedded, you can use an action to see through the target’s eyes until the start of your next turn. For the duration, you are blind with regard to your own senses. The target or a creature within 5 feet of it can use an action to remove the dagger.

**Witness Recall**. As a bonus action, you can speak the dagger’s command word and cause it to return to your free hand, provided it isn’t embedded in an object or a creature and is within 120 feet of you.
