What's it like out there in Toronto GTA, Canada?

52M looking to get out there again. Just wondering what it's like for 50+ in Toronto, Canada or the surrounding area. Crickets?

Every other dating site I tried a few years ago had a scammer approach me within a month. Does that happen on every website? I haven't tried Hinge yet and now looking more into it.

I sometimes try talking to strangers when I see them, but I only seem to connect with people when I'm out with my kid or the other person is already taken. Either get a smile and/or have a great conversation but I feel uncomfortable trying to get a # when I'm with my kid. Oddly, I'm more shy when I'm by myself although I did manage to chat with a lady at the bar last week. She was taken though.
