So I've watched the English dub of Ayashi No Ceres for a number of times now and I thought it's overdue for me to have another rewatch. But it seems there was a line of dialogue that I may have misremembered the entire time, even back when I used to watched it in Japanese[ when it was on AXN](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4bLGidivBE&pp=ygUSQVhOIEF5YXNoaW5vIGNlcmVz) (more than 20 years ago now, I can't believe it).

So I remember when the credits were rolling during the last few minutes of the final episode, there was a scene shared between Toya and Yuhi where Yuhi was congratulating the former because he gets to be a father and spend the rest of his life with Aya. Toya responded with:

>"Probably. I haven't much longer. We've discussed it. A year, maybe two, maybe longer. Who knows? SO long as, you know, when the time comes..." \*he nods\*

I remember him saying something completely different but perhaps it's the way the dialogue was written because it wasn't clear to me as a viewer at time. Maybe I wasn't completely paying attention but now I realized, listening to it now, that Toya's new life as a human is actually only going to be short lived (he was originally Ceres' missing celestial robe/hagoromo that shape-shifted into a human a thousand years after it was thrown into the sea by Mikagi, Aya's ancestor).

You guys ever encountered something similar?

Ever misremembered what someone said in a dub for years that was far off from what their actual dialogue was?
