Don't get message notifications for Facebook messenger

I recently got my fit 3 watch as a gift from my aunt as she didn't get along with it. Everything is perfect, except I can't figure out how to get notifications for Facebook messenger? Everything else works fine but Google isn't being much help so I thought I would ask here. I've enabled connection to nearby devices, that was the only setting that I could see that could need changing, but still no luck.

Any thoughts or ideas on what I could do? It just annoying as I speak to multiple people on messenger and not getting the notifs is really frustrating. They still come through and buzz my phone, just not my watch.

Thanks so much!!
