I am enraged.

Vent - no advice

Literally feel like ten seconds from putting my fist through a wall, it has been a minute since I felt rage like this. I work for a company I already do not like, they are overly corporate (cameras on, every culture thing turns into a 'how do my differences make me a great employee' and how can I leverage my (xyz background) to build relationships at work, heavily procedural, lots of corporate speak and so on.) I actually worked for another company that was a bit more welcoming but we got bought by this larger company. Well today the new company sent out an email about the upcoming fiscal year and included an AI generated video of the CEO. The man is not dead, or ill, so I am not sure what the thinking was behind this. I think they thought they were being cutting edge, but it came off as "I am so important as a CEO that I cannot be bothered to actually talk to my employees."

Not only does that perception p**s me off but I am already turning my stomach in knots over the general ethical dilemma of AI in general. Yes I know it has its uses, I work in AI, I am well aware of what it can do and how it works. But the thought that got me is like it uses water and energy and land and we should be responsible in how and when we use it. Using it to generate generic corporate videos is not IMO a responsible use of AI. I am trying to stomach this (frankly disgusting) culture for three more months because of some financial goals I have, but I am having to work harder and harder not to snap and call everyone out on this obvious BS that is being shoved down our throats. Like there's just this growing rage against the unethical corporate culture in America and I feel like I am about to pop. I literally feel sick that I have to be a part of this.

I hope I am able to survive the next few months and the hopefully move into nonprofit or at least work for a company that does some good in the world. The good news is at the end of the week my volunteer group is meeting to work on our prairie area, so maybe that will cleanse my conscience a little. Like it hurts sometimes having such a rigid construct of morality, such a rigid code of ethics, I think a lot of autistic people have this. But in the US at least, companies are so unethical and awful and it just wears you down and burns you out. I am definitely not meant for this world. :(
