Grant funded position

Question

I am currently at a grant funded position in a university (I work in public health data analysis) and it is so stressful working there because of uncertainty. My supervisor did his best to keep me there for a little less than 3 years, one time he had to switch me to another department because that department didn't want to keep me there because my supervisor didn't have enough funds to convince them with my position, he told me the funds are coming in fine in this department but it seems like he is preparing for retirement. I feel like my position is dependent on him more than the university itself so I have to get out of there soon.

I applied for a data scientist job in a large research hospital and I didn't know it was also a grant funded team, they said they're still building the team. They are a small team and they just got approved offices to work a few days in person. They told me it is a state funded position because most patients are on Medicaid and it won't be pulled because it's needed so it is a safer grant funding than research grant funded position. They were probably down playing it to make me feel safe. I was deceived by the university position during the interview too they told me it is safe position and long term funding but after 4 months one of the main principal investigators resigned to a better company and my position funding was screwed for a while. Since then I have trust issues with during interviews.

I was so discouraged by this and wished they mentioned this on the application description because I wouldn't have applied and wasted interview time.

My question is, do you guys think this is worth the hassle? The pay is over 20% higher and it will be hybrid compared to the job I have which is remote. Also, is it correct that state funding (maybe Medicaid) is safer than NIH fundings?
