HYSA or investment account for big purchases
i want to open an account for some larger purchases i know i need to make in the next 1-3 years.
Background: I do have $35k in an emergency fund HYSA with Upgrade, my only debt right now is student loans at $45k (doing my best to try and get this paid of ASAP)
Things I want to make sure I have savings for: A new, high-quality mattress, my car is about to hit 100k miles so that is in the back of my mind of either needing to get a new car at some point or maintenence issues, I am turning 40 in 2 years and am planning a vaca with all my besties in Europe so want to save for this too.
I first considered opening another HYSA, but then saw some people on here say they buy SGOV or similar for things like this. I do have a Fidelity account and am wondering if this is a better option. If I did go ahead and use this as my "savings account" how does pulling money out work? Do you get taxed on it if I want to pull it out as liquid cash? Can I just decide whenever to pull the money out?
