Inpatient is trying to discharge me, but I think it's a bad idea
So I've been in the hospital for almost a week for malnutrition. My feeding tube failed and I couldn't use it for a month, my oral intake was limited, I had to get a central catheter placed for hydration, I'm kind of a mess right now. I weigh 80lbs, and I feel like shit every day. It finally got to a point where GI sent me to inpatient for care.
I arrived here being told I was going to be put on TPN to help the malnourishment, because I'm barely eating and my tube feeds aren't going well. They never put me on TPN. I've been here a week, so instead of that, they just swapped my formula and put my feed rate at 15mL/hr to just "see what happens." I've felt worse on tube feeds than I did off of them. I've told them that multiple times and they told me they want to get me to 40mL/hr. I'm at 25. They haven't been monitoring my weight at all, and my labs haven't changed since I got here. If anything I feel worse than when I arrived. No goal was reached. They put me on new motility medication, and gave me pyloric Botox. And neither is making a difference. I still feel horrible. If they send me home, I'm just gonna be back in a month, in worse shape than I was when I got here.
They didn't do anything. Nothing has improved. Not even the way I feel. I never got tpn, I'm eating less orally than I was before, my weight isn't being monitored, and my feed rate is only at 25? Why do they think sending me home is a good idea? Is there something I've missed?
