Uses for Heat Metal (25lbs/CL unattended metals object) and connecting/entangling weapons?

1E Player

Heat/Chill Metal says "Unattended, non-magical metal gets no saving throw" which connects to Target: "-or 25 lbs. of metal/level, all of which must be within a 30-ft. circle".

What are any actual utility or damage dealing potentials with this? Would it add damage to caltrops on the round you step on them? Would it add damages to Snag Nets and Mancatchers, with fire resistant nonmetal rope, and a fire-resistant handle respectively? I imagine a thin sheet of metal lining the floor would make for a good lair trap. It could be combined with that spell/feat that makes someone take the object you are holding. There are several weapons/archetypes/feats that give special abilities to attach/enwrap to targets, such as a barrel of metal Pilums that could be thrown with heat resistant gloves to now deal 2d4 fire damage to wooden shields? Equipment Trick: Ladder lets you entangle people, so would that do fire damage to you and anyone entangled?
