Homeaglow is more like Home-A-Scam (I Paid to Host Squatters for The Day)

I paid for a home cleaning and accidentally rented my upstairs to a hostile, dysfunctional family for 5 hours. Thanks, Home-a-Scam!

Buckle up, because I am still processing the absolute fever dream that was my July 11th house cleaning.

After getting last minute canceled on and rescheduled by two different cleaners, a young man named John and his "wife" finally show up. Except they didn’t just bring vacuums. They brought their 1-year-old baby. It immediately became clear that these were not professional cleaners. I had basically just hired two people off the street who needed a climate-controlled space to keep their baby for the day. For five hours, I didn't have cleaners; I had squatters.

Here is a breakdown of the "service" I received:

  • The Vibe: The lady smelled so strongly of marijuana at 9am in the morning.
  • The Parenting: When the baby cried the lady told their baby to “shut up.” If I had their government names, I’d be calling CPS, not customer service.
  • The Shower Mystery: They spent five hours upstairs and accomplished next to nothing, but my shower was soaking wet and covered in a thick film of soap scum when it dried. They either pretended to clean it by just running the water, or they literally took showers in my home.
  • The Buffet: They brought a bunch of outside food into my house, left it sitting out while "cleaning," and successfully attracted a small army of gnats
  • The Nursery: Yes, they changed diapers and left baby toys in my home.
  • The Gaslighting: When I pointed out that the floors were still covered in visible dirt, they straight-up lied and told me they had cleaned them, but the floors just "looked like that" because they were walking on them while cleaning. Truly groundbreaking logic.
  • The Beds: The one task they tried to do on their own was making the beds. They failed miserably. Some beds had no top sheet; others had no fitted sheet. It looked like a tornado hit a Linen 'n Things. I had to strip and remake every single one.

I eventually had to physically walk John and the lady around my house to point out basic surfaces that needed a wipe-down. When I did, the lady started cleaning she was grunting literally like my request for her to do her job was a burden. She then gave the surfaces a light, lazy swipe and called it a day.

If I did not inspect the house before they attempted to leave there would have been zero surfaces wiped, zero toilets touched, dirty mirrors, a house that is still filthy, and a whole day wasted micromanaging a hostile family environment.

I am currently asking the Homeaglow/scam management for a full refund. The company needs to check their cleaner's vetting process and background check their cleaners.

At the end of the day, I paid for a clean house, got a homeless couple, a crying baby, yelling at the baby, a wet shower, diaper changes, flies and a rude grunting. Not only do I need a refund, I should request therapy fees too.
