Tip protrusion pain

I recently downsized to a Kink3D Viper N+ from a Viper S. The new cage fits perfectly when I'm flaccid—old one had just a little extra space to flop around in, which made peeing difficult—but when I'm hard, my tip sticks out and causes painful chafing. (I'm circumcised, so it's my part of my glans sticking out, not foreskin.) Does anyone have suggestions on how to minimize this? Or is it just my fate as a grower, i.e., no size will be perfect for both my (large) hard and my (teensy) soft dick? For now, I've switched back to the bigger cage... I've wondered if the Cobra might be better for me as someone circumcised, but I'm wary of trying a different style if it's really the size that's the problem
