PSA: a little dry is okay. Here's when to actually worry
Seeing dryness questions come up a lot, so here's the honest breakdown.
Palm leaf is a natural material. It loses some moisture in transit and storage. A slightly firm leaf is normal, it still packs and burns fine. You don't need to toss it.
When to actually fix it: if the leaf cracks when you give it a gentle squeeze, it's too dry. Two easy fixes:
- Put the humidity pack from the pouch back in with your wraps overnight
- No humidity pack? A small piece of orange peel in a sealed bag for a few hours works. Don't overdo it, a soggy leaf burns uneven.
Storage: keep them sealed, out of direct sun, room temp. Heat in a car does more damage than time on a shelf.
Anyone in a dry climate (Arizona, Nevada, Colorado) have storage tricks that work for you?
