The new card lacks the Momentum Dribbling and the dribbling stats (Tight Possession/Dribbling/Ball Control) [↓2] that Liverpool Suárez had. As a medium-model striker, having those dribbling stats in the low 90s means his in-game feel (responsiveness) isn't particularly great. This card is positioned more as an off-the-ball, space-exploiting striker.

However, it's worth noting that while the new card has lost the momentum dribbling, his 12-shoulder width and solid physical contact are still there, so he is still great at holding off defenders. Furthermore, it goes without saying how popular his 96 kicking power will be at the edge of the box in this current long-shot meta.

Experience (Review):

The activation of the "Attacking Surge" feels highly noticeable.

He can make runs, hold off defenders, and finish.

The in-game feel (responsiveness) has indeed dropped back a bit compared to the previous card.

Let's address the core question directly: Can this new card make it into the top three?

First, it's important to know that the previous version—Liverpool Suárez—was highly popular among skill-reliant players. A medium-model Goal Poacher combined with a wide physical frame and "momentum" dribbling meant he could steadily shield the ball against defenders and then pull off an agile breakthrough. He was widely praised as the card in the game that felt the most like R9 (Ronaldo Nazário).

On the other hand, the new Suárez is the first mainstream striker equipped with the Attacking Surge skill. In practice, using him feels more like a differentiated version of the previous card rather than an absolute power-creep upgrade.

The hidden trigger condition for Attacking Surge is that the pass must come from back to front; once this condition is met, his effective acceleration reaches 108. It sounds amazing on paper, but in reality, no player is invincible based on a single strength alone. If Attacking Surge by itself made a player unstoppable, then Inzaghi would have cracked the top 10 long ago.

There is only one player in this game who can dominate solely on one defining strength, and that's Jan Koller (though unfortunately, pure cross-spamming isn't viable anymore either).

Rummenigge is great because he can shoot, pass, make runs, head the ball, and dribble reasonably well; Gullit is great because he excels in the air, on the ground, at holding off defenders, and at playmaking. This Suárez card essentially swaps out his previous dribbling capability for off-the-ball forward runs, and I don't believe this single change is enough to push him into the top three.

As I mentioned before, the next undisputed tier-1 striker will depend on which of the top five center-forwards is the first to be equipped with Attacking Surge—but the prerequisite is that it cannot come at the cost of sacrificing their existing strengths.

What's more, the forward runs from Attacking Surge are based on the player finding and running into open space first. This off-the-ball positioning itself relies quite a bit on luck/circumstance, meaning the advantage of Attacking Surge isn't something you can just trigger and utilize at will.

Top five? Can he actually surpass the old card?
